Why choose Coura Pilates?
At Coura Pilates, it’s all about making Pilates approachable, effective, and enjoyable for every body. I combine classical Pilates foundations with dynamic, athletic movement to help you build strength, improve mobility, prevent injuries, and achieve your personal fitness goals.
Beyond the exercises, Coura Pilates is a community: a supportive, distraction-free space where you can focus on your practice, feel confident, and leave each session stronger, energized, and inspired. Whether you’re new to Pilates or looking to elevate your practice, my goal is to help you feel your best from the inside out.
What’s the recommended frequency?
On average, clients attend 1–2 sessions per week. To help you get the most from your practice, I may assign a few “homework” exercises, usually 2–3 Pilates mat movements tailored to your goals.
A daily Pilates practice on your own can make a big difference in your progress, and I’ll help you stay accountable along the way. Consistency is key, and together we’ll create a plan that fits your lifestyle and keeps you moving toward your goals.
What should I wear to Pilates?
Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothes that allow you to move freely, nothing too loose or restrictive. Grip socks are required for safety while using the equipment. Don’t forget to bring water to stay hydrated during your session!
Do you provide an assessment for my first inital session?
Absolutely! At Coura Pilates, we start with a fitness screening to assess your movement patterns and identify areas to focus on. This helps me design a program tailored to your goals and needs. The assessment typically takes 10 minutes at the beginning of your first session.
How can Pilates help with back pain?
Back pain is complex, and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. At Coura Pilates, we start with a thorough assessment and an in-depth conversation about your history, previous treatments, and movements that help or worsen your pain. Collaboration with your healthcare provider ensures a safe, cohesive approach.
Pilates can help alleviate back pain by:
Distributing spinal movement and force: Ensuring each part of your spine moves properly to prevent overloading one area.
Using breath to support movement: Breathing patterns enhance mobility rather than restrict it.
Focusing on stability, control, and alignment: Exercises on the Reformer, Tower, or Mat are tailored to your needs.
Rewiring positive movement experiences: Gradually reintroducing movements builds confidence and signals safety to your body.
How can Pilates help with knee pain?
Pilates can help reduce knee discomfort by improving strength and range of motion at the hip and ankle, which supports proper knee function. Using the Pilates equipment, we work at a controlled pace to safely enhance knee mobility and stability.
For post-operative knee rehab, physician clearance is required, and I collaborate with your physical therapist to ensure a safe and cohesive recovery plan.
Is Pilates safe during and after pregnancy?
Yes! Pilates can be a safe and effective way to support your body before and after pregnancy. During pregnancy, Pilates helps maintain strength, mobility, and posture while supporting your core and pelvic floor. After giving birth, Pilates aids in rebuilding core strength, improving alignment, and gently restoring full-body stability.
All exercises are tailored to your stage of pregnancy or postpartum recovery, and modifications are made to ensure safety and comfort. As a fully comprehensive certified Prenatal/Postnatal Instructor, I’ll help you stay strong, reduce discomfort, and move confidently throughout this special time.
